We got a shuttle back to the trail with Bubba's Shuttle Service and were hiking at 6:55. The trail today was really nicely graded and had a great tread.
Lily found a box turtle shell today.
It reminded us of the turtle we had that was rescued from a terrible fate in a university science lab.
We crossed over Interstate 77 and several Virginia highways and gravel roads.
By the late morning we were in T-shirts and shorts. The weather was sunny and beautiful for a change.
We saw the Virginia Tech Outdoor Club on the trail today doing maintenance on one of their sections.
We crossed a suspension bridge over Kimberling Creek and walked up the highway to Trent's Grocery where we did a one day resupply. The dogs got canned food and we had a pizza and Klondike bar washed down with a coke.
We are stealth camped by the Creek and and settled in for a good rest.

27 miles! Wow! Your boots must have been smoking at the end of the day. What a difference a little good weather and good trail conditions can make. The dogs must have been hard pressed to keep up with you two. I'll bet they were out like a light when you made camp.
Woo-hoo! That's like hiking Mt. Sentinel 6 times in one day. I hope you have some beautiful spring days now. It's cold and rainy here.
