Shenandoah Day 1

Day 52 Saturday April 20
Miles hiked: 20.5
Total miles: 878.0
Number of hikers we saw: 28

Luckily it didn't rain any more during the night. The breeze helped dry out our tent after the thunderstorm and rain Friday afternoon and evening.

We got to sleep in until 6:30! Tom, our trail angel picked us up a little after 8:00 and drove us back uptown Rockfish Gap.

We had our picture taken by the Kettle Corn owner. We had to register for our park permit so we actually started on the trail about 9:30.

The going was easier today. The trail was well graded and The hills were smaller.

We ate lunch on the summit if Little Calf Mountain. Lily was cooler and spunkier today after her haircut.

We pulled into the Black Rock shelter now to be called a hut in true Shenandoah style at about 6:30. We have set up, cooked and hung our food as this ha bear country.
