We got up at 6:00 and were on the trail by 7:05. We hiked passed Mary's Rock today.
We came down off the mountain at Thornton Gap and crossed an Interstate. Then it was back up into the park.
We met and visited with a really nice park ranger. He had lots of information about the park.
We stopped at Elk Wallow Wayside for lunch. It was awesome-black bean burgers, fries and milk shakes. I can't remember the last time we had milk shakes.
A really nice employee there, Kevin, shopped in town for dog food. We got it from him today when we resupplied. What a great trail angel.
We had some beautiful views today. We are staying at Gravel Springs Hut. Arrowhead caught up to us today and Pappy is staying here as well. We had first met him in Franklin, NC.
