Out of Shenandoah

Day 57 Thursday April 25
Miles hiked: 18.6
Total miles: 970.3
Number of hikers we saw:
2 SOBO section hikers
2 day hikers

We had a rainstorm last night right as we were getting into our bags. It was a good rain and everything smelled like spring.

We got up and were on the trail by 7:25. It was a really chilly and breezy morning.

We made good time and had some great views. We left the park today and then headed downhill to cross a busy highway.
We didn't see any bears in the park.

We then headed back up hill. We passed houses along the way and must be in the flight pattern for one if the DC airports.

We are staying at the Jim and Molly Denton Shelter.

It is a really nice shelter. The only bummer is the solar shower is cold!

Mike headed into Linden to resupply and I did all of the domestic chores.

Here are some interesting plants we have been seeing the last week or so.

This one we call an umbrella plant, but I will leave the research for Mary Ann's inquiring mind!
