We had an incredible thunderstorm during the night followed by a pouring rain. It was foggy when we got up and remained foggy until about 10:30.
We hit the trail at 6:35. We found a box turtle in the middle of the trail. I was so bummed my phone was packed deep in my pack to avoid the wet weather. We also found a colorful centipede like creature and our first snake, a garter snake. It must be spring.
We hiked along the Tinker Cliffs which were beautiful even in the fog.
When we got to Daleville we got a room at Howard Johnson Inn. The shower was heavenly.
We took the dogs to the vet for a quick check so we could get their heartworm and flea/tick meds. The vet said they looked great paws and all. They were weighted and have not lost any weight at all.
We picked up our summer sleeping bags that Mike's sister Donna had mailed to us here. We returned our winter bags and a few other pieces of gear we didn't need.
With the shopping done we got our veggie lovers' pizza and enjoyed some news. Our packs are packed and we are headed to bed.

Saw the line of storms coming through the mountains and figured you'd get some of them. They spawned a few tornadoes in at least one state.
5 more miles and you'll be 1/3 of the way to Katahdin! Wow! Glad to hear the dogs are doing well. Wondering if you two had lost any weight? They say that thru hikers have a hard time consuming enough daily calories to keep their weight up.
Did the vet weigh you guys? Even with all the ice cream, Cokes, and veggie pizzas, I imagine you're losing weight. I hope the latest storm missed you. I'm still amazed at the weather you've had to endure, but you guys are extra gnarly!
Sounds like all is going very well! Glad the dogs are holding their own!!
