We slept in this morning until 6:40. That is being really lazy on the AT! We hit the trail at 7:45. It froze last night so we were bundled up again this morning. The dogs got a pack free day as we were headed to a resupply point.
We had some really nice trail today. We had a few easy climbs. We saw an American Redstart and think we saw our first red headed woodpecker. Yesterday we saw our first bear sign- a flipped rock in the trail and a ripped up log.
We met 2 southbound thru hikers at the Lewis Mountain campground store, Housebroken and Platypus. They were really talkative and friendly. Platypus is from East Germany so she is hiking as much of the trail as she can before she had to return home.
We are staying in the hiker bunkhouse. It has a wood stove so we have been warm today.

We got showers and our laundry is done. I even got to wash my hair but had to use bar soap. You can't be picky on the AT.
Randy, the manager here, was our trail angel today. He had 2 cans of dog food and a bag of dry dog food for us, free of charge! What a generous person! We are very thankful for all of the wonderful people who have helped us so far!
We have worked out a plan that should get us to Harpers Ferry, WV close to Sunday if all goes well.
