We decided to stay in Franklin NC today as the Great Smokies got 15 inches of snow! We thought with the great weather forecast coming it would buy us some time. Hopefully, the snow is melting!
We will hit the trail again tomorrow morning. We are loving everyone's comments and encouraging words!

Holy crap!!! I just read days 6-8. You guys are gnarly! Hot pizza and a warm, dry place to sleep (with a real bed) must seem like heaven. 15" of snow...seriously, holy crap!!!
Sounds like a Great Day!!!! Catch up time is important too!

1. Are you warm when you are in your sleeping bags at night?
2. Is the tent warmer than a shelter?
3. Are you having fun?
4. Is it colder than you expected in the South? (I think it is colder in March than it has been for few years. I'll look up recent years on Weather Underground and let you know.)
5. Once you out-hike the February starters, will you be lonely on the trail?
6. Legs, shoulders, feet doing good?
7. Need medical advice?

Mike and Lynn, we are following your adventures day-by-day as if we were there with you (if only), and we love the pics and text. Today it is snowing in Denver, and we are thinking of you within that context, hoping that you and your 4 legged companions can avoid much of that stuff. As you approach the Great Smokies, you are rekindling the days of my youth and family camping trips there. I also banged up my first canoe on the Nantahala River not too far from there.
