Into Town

Day 18 Saturday March 17
Miles hiked:13.4
Total miles: 273.9
Number of hikers we saw: 3

We were up at 6:00 this morning and hit the trail at 7:00. We had to use flashlights for a while. We had one big climb today and then the general trend was down hill. We saw several turkeys but there is not much for wildlife so far. All we have seen are squirrels, a rabbit and birds. For birds we have seen cardinals, blue jays, crows, turkeys, eastern bluebirds, juncos and Carolina wrens.

We are camped near the French Broad River in Hot Springs, NC. We have a few things to ship home, laundry and grocery shopping.

Tomorrow it is a big climb back to the ridges of the Appalachian Mountains. yes, they are mountains!

I think you mean Sunday March 17 - St Patrick's Day. See any leprechauns among the wildlife?
