Number of hikers we saw: 2 section hikers and tons of day hikers
We left Standing Bear Farm at 6:00 am. Can't really recommend that place. We climbed a 2500 foot hill right away.
It was a pleasant hiking temperature so we got to wear shorts all day.
We walked along several different creeks today. We saw so big tree and even bigger boulders.
The highlight of the day was Max Patch, a large grassy hill. There is a recreation area on top that was being enjoyed by many people.
Tonight we are camped on Walnut Mountain. The shelter here isn't fit for a pack rat.
Tomorrow we head into Hot Springs NC. It will be a day to do laundry and resupply.
