After yesterday's hike we needed a rest! Well it came in the form of a sign duct taped to a tree. The sign advertised Mother Marion's AT Hostel. We called from Sam's Gap and found out about it. It sounded great.
We hiked on to Big Bald where Bobby, Marion's son, and AT section hiker met us. We hiked to his car and he drove us to their house.
It is on a beautiful hillside overlooking the Wolf Creek Ski Area and resort. It is not a hostel but a home stay. In other words, a piece of heaven. Bobby will take us to the store after our showers and laundry. We will sleep in the basement family room with our doggies. Yes, a sweet piece of heaven!

If I were in your shoes (hiking boots), I would just want to move in with Mother Marion.

Those little pieces of heaven along the way will be the times that you remember best. Pizza when you're really hungry - a soda on a hot summer day - a warm, dry, clean place to stay when you really need one. When you get to our area, we'll have all three waiting...
