Day 7
Miles hiked:16
Total miles: 110
Number of hikers we saw: 3
We got up to find everything frozen solid- boots, backpacks, tent. We hit the trail at 8:00.
We walked fast in order to try to stay warm. We did some hands and feet climbing on Albert Mountain. There is a fire lookout tower on the top.
We stopped at the Long Branch Shelter for a snack and made a phone call to get a motel room in Franklin NC.
We continued on hiking to Winding Stair Gap were we were picked up by Ron Haven the owner of the motel. He drove us the 10 miles down the mountain into Franklin. He said it is a town of about 10,000.
We ordered an 18 inch veggie pizza that was delivered piping got to our room door! The dogs liked it too!
We are doing laundry now. Our things are dry and repacked. The dogs are out for the night. Wow it is nice to be warm, dry and clean!

7 days on the road and you guys are at 110 miles in North Carolina. Amazing. Just finished the other AT book. Will have to find more to read.
I am so glad you are warm and dry. Hoping for sunshine tomorrow for ya'll.

Winter is making its last stand as it usually does in the Eastern US this time of the year but spring is definitely on the way. Soon frozen boots will be just a memory. You guys are making great progress.
Hurray for motels and pizza and clean, dry clothes!
