Up Roan Mountain

Day 24 Saturday March 23
Miles hiked: 23.7
Total miles: 382.7
Number of hikers we saw: 5 thru hikers and lots of day hikers

We went to bed early and enjoyed the hooting of owls all night.

We were up at 5:00 and left camp at 5:55. It was a cloudy gray day but no rain. The weather forecast was for rain and snow so we wanted to get over the mountain.

It was a long tough day but we enjoyed hiking with Travis a new thru hiker we met today.

The sun came out at Carver Gap so we enjoyed the views.

Checking the map is a big part of every day.

We pulled into camp at the Overmountain Shelter It is a barn that was converted into a shelter. We are enjoying the company of 6 other thru hikers- Travis, Matt, Passing Through, Firefeet, Corbett, and a guy from East Missoula.
