A Sunny Day

Day 29 Thursday March 28
Miles we hiked: 18.1
Total miles: 434.0
Number of Hikers we saw:6

We were up at 6:00 and on the trail at 7:24. We had a beautiful walk along the Laurel Fork River. Some of this trail was on an old small gauge railroad bed.
We got a great view of Laurel Falls.

After climbing up Pond Mountain we got a great view of Watauga Lake.

We stopped for a snack by the lake.

We met an awesome family section hiking. They had a 7th, 5th, and 2nd grader plus a dog named Sara! It was so fun to talk with them. They even knew who we were from reading other people's journals. Our dogs are famous!

We met Travis and J Low when we were stopped for a break.

We had a sunny day and the snow is on the decline. Tonight we are staying at Vandeventer shelter with Travis and J Low. We are all in bed because of the wind.

I was reading some trail journals and I found one called Kid in Boots. I was looking at a photo from the Mountain Harbor Hostel. I see 2 doggies in the pictures and think "hey, that looks like Sara and Lily", then "Hey, that looks like Mike", and "Hey, that's Lynn!!" Very cool pictures if anyone wants to check them out.
