Happy Birthday

Day 63 Wednesday May 1
Miles hiked: 17.6
Total miles: 1059.6
Number if hikers we saw: 39, 30 were boys from Georgetown Prep School

We got up early and were on the trail at 6:05. We watched a beautiful sunrise.

Our hike today was rocky in places, but the grade was good for the most part.

We had a great view from High Rock. It was our first view of Pennsylvania.

We ended at Pen Mar Park where Tess picked us up. We headed back to their house to celebrate Mike's 60th birthday.

We had great appetizers- cheese and crackers, fruit, veggies and hummus, and scoops and salsa.

Tess made an awesome salad and spaghetti. She fixed yummy garlic bread and we finished up with an ice cream birthday cake.

Thanks so much Steve and Tess. You made Mike's birthday one to remember.

We walked around their property after dinner. What a wonderful day!

Happy Birthday Mike! And Congratulations -- you are now officially a Geezer, and entitled to all the many benefits bestowed by this status. Your team of 12 legs have now hiked and exceeded some impressive equivalents such as Denver to the Grand Canyon (675 mi), Denver to Durango and back (~1000mi), NW corner of Montana to NE corner of Montana and back (~920 mi), Denver to Los Angeles (1022 mi). You have really racked up some miles, not to mention surviving the "Appalachian Spring". Snow in Denver again today (May 1) -- It's "Springtime in the Rockies". Happy Trails to the Four Montanans! Earl and Kathleen

Happy birthday, Mike! What a wonderful way to spend a 60th birthday. After your amazing 60th birthday, you're gonna have to come up with something really awesome for Lynn's 60th! If you make it back to Montana by June, you're invited to a birthday party for Wes Wilson on top of Mt. Sentinel, even if you don't know him. We're inviting EVERYONE because it's his 80th birthday.
